Union at Lee-A tough one to call. I am going with Lee to take home the first slop bucket er I mean lunch bucket. Lee has the makings to be really good this year.
Central at Thomas Walker-I really dont know much about either one but will say Central.
Holston at John I. Burton-Holston is really down. Norton wins big.
Hazard at Clintwood-Not sure what Hazzard has this year but should be a dandy if they are anything like they have been. Going with Clintwood.

Baffled that Richlands-Gate City,the game of the night has not been mentioned,so here goes my picks:

Richlands Blue Tornado-21 sure wouldn't place any wagers on this one no doubt,but i'll take Richlands at home

Wow! I think I'd heard of Hazard before but had no idea about the type of program they had. If I knew they went 13-1 and returned most of their starters I might have picked them over Clintwood in my earlier post, LOL. I would sure love to see the Wave upset them and get a huge win at the beginning of the season, though. I hope that the game is at least somewhat close. It sounds like a very interesting match-up.

"you'll not be beating the Bears unless you can chuck it" . 110% agree. Only way someone is going to beat Union is passing unless they have a stellar backfield (not much differentthan what richlands in packing). Union has one of the best D lines i have seen in the LPD since the 90's (yes i said the 90's) and gang tackle much like past defences at Appy and PV. Their pass D is weak though. Too much over pursute sometimes and too much cushion others. It'll get better in time though

Union hasn't got any state championships yet as they're a new school. You do know that both Powell Valley and Appalachia each had more state trophies in football than Gate City? PV had a little bit less than double the amount. Between PV and Appy there are 14 state trophies.

Besides the fact that GC has 2 state trophies in football that are more recent than PV and Appalachia, what exactly have they really got that should make Union jealous when the 2 schools that Union comprises have a lot more football state trophies between them?

GC has a great tradition no doubt. No one denies that. It's attitudes like this that cause Gate City to have some of the most disliked fans in the region.

Back to the topic at hand:

I'm ready to see the Bears in action. Will be a bit late coming from work, though.
